Family-to-Family Support
Being told that your child has a special health care need can be surprising. Some families feel overwhelmed at first and don't know how to handle the stress of caring for their child.
Children's Medical Services is here to help. With our nurse care coordinators and social work services, we are here to support and guide you through your child's healthcare. CMS staff works hard to make sure parents get the information and services their child needs.
But CMS also understands that caring for a child with special health care needs goes beyond appointments with doctors. We know that families with children with special health care needs also have challenges in their everyday lives that they need help with. That's why CMS contracts with a special group called the Family Resource Coalition, Inc.
The Family Resource Coalition is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to provide support for CMS families. Made up of parents who have children with special healthcare needs just like you, the Family Resource Coalition works with you and your child to find additional help you need to have a great quality of life for your entire family.
