Module One: Introduction to Early Steps!In this module, you will learn about the mission, goals, and the philosophical basis of Florida's early intervention system, Early Steps. You will also receive information about the important federal and state laws that support this early intervention system. You will view the organizational structure of Early Steps and become familiar with the operational responsibilities of the Early Steps system from both a state and local perspective. The federal and state requirements for the Early Steps system components of Public Awareness, Child Find, the Individualized Family Support Plan, Service Coordination, Family Involvement, Procedural Safeguards, the Comprehensive System of Personnel Development and Training, and Data and Record Keeping are presented in Lessons One and Two. You will also have the opportunity to explore family-centered practices in the field of early intervention and clarify how your attitudes and beliefs influence your ability to work with families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
