Module One: Lesson OneWhat is Early Steps?
The Early Steps system provides services to meet the individual developmental needs of the child and the needs of the family related to supporting and enhancing the child's development. Early Steps provides services in the child's/family's everyday routines, activities, and places in accordance with the child's Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP). Early Steps is a comprehensive, interagency, multidisciplinary, community-based, and family-centered system. Next, we will discuss the focus of Early Steps and listen to the mission and overall goal of Early Steps.
|

Early Steps, formerly the Infants and Toddlers Early Intervention Program, provides a coordinated system of early intervention services for families of infants and toddlers with a developmental delay or an established condition, which places them at high risk for developmental disabilities. The purpose of this program is to identify potentially eligible infants early, to develop an Individualized Family Support Plan based on the family's concerns, priorities and resources, and to coordinate the provision of early intervention services and related supports.
