Central Directory & Other Resources

Central Directory

A Central Directory function is required of all states providing services under the auspices of IDEA, Part C. The purpose of the Central Directory is to provide a coordinated system of information and referral services for families of infants and toddlers with special needs. In Florida, this function is provided through a contract between the Department of Health, State CMS Program Office and an independent, non-profit agency. The Central Directory is also referred to as the Florida Central Directory of Early Childhood Serviceslink opens in a new window.

The Central Directory maintains a statewide toll-free number and a comprehensive, standardized database of information about:

  • Providers of public and private early childhood services, resources and experts available in the state.
  • Professionals and groups that provide assistance to children.
