*NEW* Office of Special Education Programs Reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (IDEA) in 2004 requires that all participating states have a
performance plan in place, within one year of enactment, that evaluates
efforts to implement IDEA and shows how the state will improve
performance. The State Performance Plan must be developed with broad
stakeholder input, be reviewed by the state at least every six years, be
approved by the secretary of the US Department of Education, and establish
measurable and rigorous targets for priority areas. States must report annually on the state's performance towards the targets established in the State Performance Plan |
