The Child Protection Team (CPT) of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties is one of five programs of the Child Protection Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that has a 24 year history of providing quality prevention, intervention and treatment services in our communities. CPT provides assessments and consultation services to children and families referred by the Department of Children and Families and Law Enforcement in cases of suspected abuse, neglect, and abandonment by a caregiver. As a multidisciplinary team comprised of specially trained medical providers, team coordinator, case coordinators, psychologists, medical coordinator, attorney and multiple community partners; CPT provides Forensic Medical Assessments, Forensic Interviews, Specialized Interviews, Multidisciplinary Staffings, Psychological Assessments, and Expert Court Testimony. In addition to these services CPT also provides training for child protection investigators and other community providers of child welfare services, and training for emergency room staff and other medical providers in the community.
