The Child
Protection Team (CPT) of Seminole County provides services to abused
children and their families through a collaboration with Kids House of
Seminole, Inc. – a non-profit Children’s Advocacy Center. The CPT of
Seminole is housed at Kids House of Seminole, Inc., in Sanford. Also on
site at Kids House of Seminole, Inc. is a unit of criminal investigators
from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, therapists specializing in
working with abused children, Child Advocates focused on assisting
families in their time of need, and a Medical Trauma Program that
facilitates sexual assault exams in acute cases.
The CPT of
Seminole utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach when investigating cases
of suspected child abuse. The multidisciplinary team consists of CPT
Case Coordinators, Medical Professionals, Child Protective Services, Law
Enforcement, State Attorney’s Office, Therapists, Child Advocates, and
Support Staff who are dedicated to working with abused children and
their families. Medical exams and interviews with children in cases of
suspected child abuse are provided on-site at Kids House of Seminole,
Inc. by the CPT of Seminole. The CPT of Seminole also provides training
in the community on issues of child abuse and neglect.
