The Child Protection Team of Pasco County is housed at Pasco Kids First, a not for profit agency. The central office is located in New Port Richey, and services are offered throughout the county, with a satellite office in Dade City. In Pasco, Child Protection Investigation is handled through the sheriff's office. Investigators and Specialists from the Child Protection Team work closely together to ensure children are properly evaluated for abuse and neglect, and appropriate steps are taken to ensure child safety. Pasco Kids First also offers Healthy Families Services, which is a voluntary intensive parenting program, for parents who have a newborn child. Also offered at Pasco Kids First is a Victim of Crime Act program, which provides counseling to children who are victims of abuse. Pasco Kids First is hoping to add additional programs for children and their families, and hopes to become a Child Advocacy Center in the near future.
