The Howard Phillips Center for Children & Families
The District 7A Child Protection Team is located in Central Florida, and serves Orange and Osceola Counties. We work collaboratively and are co-located with Children's Advocacy Centers in each of these two counties, and we offer the full array of CPT services in each location, including forensic interviews, multi-disciplinary case staffings, medical evaluations, psychosocial assessments, photographic documentation of abuse injuries, 24/7 on-call case consultation, community trainings on child abuse, expert court testimony and psychological evaluations. In addition to our Medical Director and Team Coordinator, our team is also comprised of 16 Case Coordinators, 4 Supervisors, 5 support staff, 2 ARNPs, and one pediatrician. Additionally, we contract with two pediatricians for part time clinic work. As is true of all CPTs, referrals to the team are typically made by either Department of Children and Families caseworkers or law enforcement, although we also field calls from other professionals and the community regarding abuse/neglect questions. We work closely with DCF and law enforcement, as well as with the State Attorneys Office, our local CACs, the school districts, and mental health providers to assess risk to children in cases of alleged abuse and neglect. We also offer mental health services for victims of sexual abuse at both locations via our Healing Tree/Sexual Trauma Recovery Centers. Additionally, Child Advocate support services are available at both locations via the respective CACs, for children and non-offending caregivers. Our hours of
operation at both locations are 8-4:30, M-F. The addresses and
phone numbers for our two Central Florida locations are as follows:
