Children’s Medical Services has a new Provider Management Data Site - https://www.cmskidsproviders.comopens in a new window!. This site contains a listing of health care providers that are specially qualified to meet the unique needs of children with special health care needs.

Through this site the general public will be able to search for a specific CMS approved provider by name; or obtain a listing of CMS approved providers available by specialty and by county.

Healthcare providers will be able to submit an electronic application for CMS participation. Existing CMS approved providers will be given access to the system as they come up for renewal, to review and update their existing data.


Newborn Screening Expansion:  The Florida Newborn Screening Program currently screens for 34 disorders including hearing, and will add cystic fibrosis screening July 1, 2007. Newborn Screening Program Website
Florida KidCare program: The Florida KidCare children's health insurance program now has year-round open enrollment. To get an application or for more information, visit the Florida KidCare web site at http://www.floridakidcare.orgopens in a new window, or call the toll-free information line (1-888-540-5437). CMS Network News:  The quarterly newsletter highlights statewide issues, as well as various local and regional activities. Each issue will recognizes a CMS employee and CMS provider for their contribution to our children with special needs. The newsletter provides you with information to provide feedback on the format and suggestions for future editions. Please send us your comments.
Map of Births and Hearing Referrals by County: The Infant Hearing Program's map of the number of births and hearing referrals for each county in Florida is available for public download. Birth and Referral Mapopens in a new window(pdf - 418kb)
Hospital Hearing Screening Survey: The 2004 Hospital Hearing Screening Survey results are now available. This report includes data on screening and referral rates, as well as an overview of changes in equipment used in hospitals over the past three years. The survey can be downloaded from the Infant Hearing Program website.
Infant Hearing Videos:  The Infant Hearing Program now features two new videos available for viewing online. "A Parent's Guide to Infant Hearing Screening" and "Giving Your Baby a Sound Beginning" are accessible in both English and Spanish from the Infant Hearing Program website.
Early Steps Website:  Beginning July 1st, Early Steps, formerly known as Infants and Toddlers Early Intervention Program, is changing its service delivery system into one that provides services and supports for infants and toddlers in places where they live, learn and play. Early Steps is one of the specialized programs offered by CMS in accordance with IDEA, Part C: Early Steps Website
CMS Cardiac Subcommittee Conference Call: July 20 from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. (EDT). The call in numbers are: toll-free 1-800-416-4254; SunCom 292-2903; local 922-2903.
The agenda includes review of the draft cardiac standards for regional and satellite clinics; approve the Charter amendment to allow for an alternate member for each regular member; and an update from the Ad Hoc Data Reporting Committee.

The Florida Initiative in Telehealth & Education (FITE) now has online continuing educationopens in a new window! The "Type I Diabetes in Children", is 3 contact hours and is provided by Shands Hospital via the FITE website. Work at your own pace and FREE to all Florida nurses!
