CMS Network Pediatric Diabetes Telemedicine Project Objectives:

Telemedicine involves the use of telecommunications and information technology to provide clinical care to individuals at a distance and to transmit the information needed to provide that care.

  • Improve physician/patient adherence with current American Diabetic Association practice recommendations.
  • Reduce ambulatory-sensitive hospital days.
  • Reduce the number of missed school/work days for participants.
  • Increased patient's satisfaction with their care.
  • Improve subjective quality of life.
  • Reduce blood HbA1c levels.

The CMS Network Pediatric Diabetes telemedicine project (Florida Initiative in Telehealth and Education) is being conducted in the University of Florida Pediatric Diabetes/Endocrinology Center referral area which includes the Gainesville and Daytona Beach CMS area office service delivery areas.
