Federal Laws And Rights Related To People With Disabilities

These are websites for the federal laws on various issues that affect people with disabilities. Information about all federal laws and agencies can be accessed through the Disability Info.gov website.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), U. S. Department of Justice -- This website provides technical information and answers questions about the responsibilities of businesses and state or local governments in meeting the requirements of the ADA. It also provides individuals information about their rights under this federal law. At the top of the page is a listing of the site that includes Publications. Most of these can be printed directly from the site. The left side of the home page provides links to government agencies that have ADA responsibilities. The website is: http://www.ada.gov/#Anchor-47857

Disability Info.
-- This is the federal government's website that is designed to have comprehensive disability-related government resources. There are tabs along the top of the home page that connect to federal agencies, laws and information for Employment, Education, Housing, Transportation, Income Support, Technology, Community Life, and Civil Rights. Each topic includes information about the federal laws that apply to that topic, their application, and links to current projects and publications. This website is a result of the President's New Freedom Initiative, a comprehensive plan that promotes the opportunity for each person with disabilities to learn and develop skills, engage in productive work, choose where to live, and participate in community life. The website is: http://www.disabilityinfo.gov/
