Locating safe and reliable transportation is often a challenge for youth with special health care needs. The following sites provide information and tips to consider.

Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) -- Whether an individual wants to obtain a driver's license or a Florida DOT identification card, this website has all of the information. On the left side of the web page there is a listing of Frequently Asked Questions. For more information about driver's licenses and identification cards, click on Requirements to Apply. The list also includes addresses and hours for all of the Drivers License Offices throughout Florida as well as the forms needed to obtain a disabled parking permit. The website is:

Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged -- An independent commission housed administratively within the Florida Department of Transportation whose mission is to insure the availability of efficient, cost-effective, and quality transportation services for transportation disadvantaged persons. Easter Seals: Transportation Solutions for Caregivers -- Many adolescents and young adults with special health care needs rely on family members and friends for transportation. This can become challenging as time goes by and this site provides tips and resources to assist families in avoiding problems that can arise. A free Caregiver Transportation Toolkit and Facilitation Manual are available from Easter Seals. The website is:
